The Bible
The Bible, also being referred to as the Holy Scripture or the Word of God, is paramount to our very understanding of who God is and what is required of man. Roman Catholicism has always been at odds with Holy God over the issue of the source of truth. The Lord Jesus Himself identified truth with the Written Word. He said, “sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17). There is no source other than written Scripture alone to which the statement, “thy word is truth” can apply. That source alone, the Bible, is the believer’s standard of truth and authority. Therefore, all true believers trust in God alone and His Written Word alone. The Bible is the absolute source of all truth as the Lord also declared, “…the scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35).
In contrast to this, the Catholic Church declares that both “Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honored with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, Para. 82)
The Bible is given as a merciful and steadfast relief against all spiritual confusion, darkness, and uncertainty, including the Roman Catholic Church. We truly praise God for the treasure and confidence that we have in the Bible. May you soon see and embrace His Holy Word as your sole authority.
