Salvation  |  In Christ Alone

In the Scripture, salvation is always seen as being in Christ, who is both the author and granter.  For example, in all of the Biblical books penned by the Apostle Paul, salvation is always expressed as being “in Christ”.  In a similar way, in the Apostle John’s writing, eternal life is in Christ and it is by believing on Him who by His work obtained eternal life for His people. In the Catholic Church however salvation is viewed as being in the Church and through her sacraments.  This is a crucial topic because the salvation of your soul can only be granted through the work of God as clearly taught by His Word.

The Catechism Says:

#824 “It is in the Church that ‘the fullness of the means of salvation’ has been deposited.  It is in her that ‘by the grace of God we acquire holiness.’”

#982 “There is no offense, however serious, that the Church cannot forgive. ‘There is no one, however wicked and guilty, who may not confidently hope for forgiveness, provided his repentance is honest.’”

The Bible Says:

I John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Mark 2:7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

The Catechism Says:

#181 “Believing’ is an ecclesial act.  The Church’s faith precedes, engenders, supports and nourishes our faith.  The Church is the mother of all believers.  ‘No one can have God as Father who does not have the Church as Mother.”

The Bible Says:

Heb 12:2   Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;…

Ephesians 1:6-7 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

Romans 3:24  “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

The Catechism Says:

#169 “Salvation comes from God alone; but because we receive the life of faith through the Church, she is our mother:…”

The Bible Says:

I John 5:11-12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

According to the Bible, salvation is found in Christ.  It is not found in any church, whether it is Catholic, Protestant or any other religious system.  To follow the Roman Catholic teaching that instructs that the Church is “the fullness of the means of salvation” rather than Christ as both the means and fullness of salvation is literally soul damning.  The Apostle Paul stated in Philippians 3:8-9 “that I may win Christ and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.  After reading these text can you say that you are in Christ or do you boast of your standing in the Church?
